SUMMARY:Dyslexia Cafe - Ore (Hastings) 17th January 2026
DESCRIPTION:Dyslexia Café – The Ore Centre\, 17 January 2026 (10am–12pm)\nJoin us at The Ore Centre for our first Dyslexia Café of 2026 – a relaxed\, welcoming space where adults\, families and children can drop in for support\, guidance and community. \nOur Dyslexia Cafés are designed to make dyslexia support accessible\, friendly and completely pressure-free. Whether you have a question\, a concern\, or simply want to understand things a little better\, you’re very welcome to join us. \nWhat’s available on the day\n\n\nLow-cost\, community-funded Dyslexia and Dyscalculia ScreeningsIdeal for those seeking early indicators or clarity before pursuing a full diagnostic assessment. \n\n\nFree advice and guidanceFor adults\, parents\, carers\, young people or anyone wanting to better understand dyslexia and what effective support can look like. \n\n\nBring your paperworkParents are encouraged to bring (or send in advance\, via whatsapp or email) school or educational documents such as: \n\n\nSchool reports or examples of handwriting/ independent writing / maths work or assessments \n\n\nEHCP paperwork or school support documents (ANP(T)/ IEP) \n\n\nSchool-based dyslexia or dyscalculia screeners \n\n\nExisting diagnostic reports \n\n\n\n\nWe’ll help you interpret them\, understand what they mean\, and explore how support should look in your individual environment. \n\n\nFriendly\, informal chatA chance to ask questions\, connect with others and feel part of a supportive community. \n\n\nBooking information\nWhile drop ins are always warmly welcomed\, it really helps us plan if you can pre book using our event form. \n\nOne to one consultations will prioritise individuals and families who have pre booked. During busy events\, one to one consultations may need to be limited to 10-15 minutes.\nIf you would like to arrange a community subsidised screener\, please contact us via WhatsApp\, email or Facebook with your booking number and we will reserve a screening voucher for you.\n\nAbout Our Screeners \nOur screeners are individually tailored and carried out by a specialist assessor. They are suitable for both children and adults and can be adapted depending on your situation\, whether you are in school\, at work\, navigating co occurring needs\, or exploring whether a full diagnostic assessment might be the right next step. \nScreeners can be used to:\n• provide targeted feedback for schools or home support• identify key areas of need and practical next steps• help you decide whether a full assessment would be beneficial• offer clarity for individuals with complex or overlapping profiles \nEach screener combines a short assessment with discussion so that your context\, history and strengths are included in the picture\, not just scores. Screeners are not a full diagnostic assessment; screeners cannot diagnose dyslexia or dyscalculia. They offer a risk of dyslexia (e.g. low or no risk\, possible risk\, high risk). \nPricing and Funded Support \nScreeners at the Café are offered at a discounted rate of £45\, subsidised by community funding. The standard fee\, through our sister company (Dyslexia South East) without community funding is £95. \nWe never want cost to be a barrier. A small number of community funded screeners are available and may be allocated at our discretion for families experiencing financial hardship or significant need. Additional financial support may also be possible with appropriate evidence of circumstances. If you feel you may need help\, please get in touch – we will always do our best to support you with compassion and without judgement. \nScreeners are provided through our sister company\, Dyslexia South East\, and are available to all visitors to the Café. \nCommunity Raffle\nEveryone who signs in on the day (either through our online booking form or using a paper form at the event) will be entered into our Community Raffle. The draw will take place at 12pm. \nPrizes include: \n\nThree fully funded Community CIC screeners\nOne hour of specialist consultation or support\nA £45 discount towards a full diagnostic assessment\n\nThese prizes are offered to help make support accessible to as many people as possible. \nVenue\nOre Community Centre\nThe Ore CentreA warm\, inclusive community venue with a friendly on-site café and comfortable spaces – ideal for conversation\, learning and support.
